It’s just unbelievable and a childhood dream come true.”

This ensures that their legacy continues to be a part of Santa's journey. “It’s sort of an afterburner available to Santa if he falls more than ten seconds behind schedule,” says Polar Composites & Propulsion’s lead elfeneer, Jingles Gingerbutton. “Humans don’t realize that every stop on Santa’s trek is calculated down to the second, so it’s a big deal if he gets behind. If that happens, between stops, he just flips a switch on the throttle and his position and speed are instantly corrected to exactly where he should be. That was one of our biggest technological hurdles with this project because beyond just lighting the way in bad weather, Rudolph’s most important job was keeping Santa on schedule. Though the reindeer are technically retired, they still play a major role in Santa’s trip around the world.”
