Q3 '23 APEX News

NEWS

It’s been a long, hot, and busy summer for the APEX bunch. We’ve undertaken some large maintenance projects while we continue our march towards in-house charter services. We’re also hard at work developing new products for our clients that we plan on rolling out in Q4 23 or Q1 24.

From the Hangar

Despite the record number of 100+ degree days in the hangar, our boys managed to undertake a large phase inspection on a Lear 45 (prompting us to feature the 45 in this quarter’s Aircraft Spotlight), and complete a landing gear overhaul on a Hawker 800XP.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the team we’ve built in our maintenance operation. Every one of our guys is committed to doing excellent work, and willing to show up every day in this heat and provide out clients with top-tier service. I’d put our shop up against any in the world when it comes to the airframes we service and maintain.” - Ross Nyerges, CEO

Big Texas-’Bama Weekend

Nearly every one of our birds flew the coup for Tuscaloosa for the Texas-Alabama matchup. It seems every one of our owners have a strong connection to the Longhorns and flew east to witness their defeat of the Crimson Tide. It took some tricky operating by our pilots, but everybody got to the game safely and on time!

Beyond the part 91 operations we provided this year, APEX is poised to provide charter services to a larger clientele next year and beyond as Texas enters the SEC and these big matchups become more a part of regular business. Hook ‘em!

From the front office

APEX is proud to announce that they are taking an active role in the development of the South Texas Business Aviation Association (STXBAA). STXBAA is a non-profit organization created by business aviation professionals with the purpose of providing an educational, advocational, and social platform for companies in South Texas that own or operate aircraft as a business tool, as well as companies servicing business aircraft. Members share best practices and network among like-minded professionals while advocating and growing interest in the BizAv industry.

Our founder, Ross Nyerges, now sits on the Flight Department subcommittee, while Chief of Operations, Adham el-Effendi, sits on the BizAv Advocacy subcommittee. Director of Sales & Acquisitions, Clayton Corn has taken the most active role, having been nominated to serve on the Board of Directors, as well as sitting on the Communications subcommittee and serving as vice chair of the Events subcommittee.

“I’m beyond honored to be asked to take on such an active role with the STXBAA,” Clayton says. “I love the mission, and I’m looking forward to building relationships within the industry that moves Texas BizAv and APEX forward.”

Clayton also earned his first type rating in early September, having completed two weeks of simulator training for the Fairchild SA227 Metroliner at FlightSafety’s San Antonio facility. Clayton is looking forward to becoming a regular crewmember for APEX’s Merlin owners on their part 91 operations in the near future.

Also, earlier this month, Ross and Amber (Friesen, APEX’s Customer Relations Specialist) attended the final rendition of the Reno Air Races.

Looking into Q4, a few of the team will be attending NBAA’s BASE Conference in Las Vegas later in October, and will be helping host the launch event for the Texas Ranchers, Austin’s inaugural professional pickleball team that is planned to be held at Austin Executive Airport.

APEX continues moving into the future with new initiatives and projects. We look forward to updating you with accomplishments and even more initiatives next quarter.
